Friday Night Winter Blues

Rossdale Golf Club will be holding three amazing nights of entertainment where you can come along and enjoy the tunes of some very talented artists. Grab a meal and drink and make a night of it. There’s no reason why you can’t enjoy the winter months also. Members Happy Hour from 5-7pm.

A Light Hearted Story

All golfers know that anything can happen on a golf course. On a lovely crisp Winters day at Rossdale on Thursday 7th June this beautiful game provided another gem. Our dear Member Denis Boland found himself in the unfortunate position of being in the hazard on the left on 13. We’ve all been there and know that “sinking feeling” when the ball trickles in.

On this day – due to the lack of rain – although Denis was 2 metres in he bravely decided to take the shot on.

The arrival of his ball into said hazard disturbed a few of our friendly ducks who decided to waddle onto the fairway to see what our intrepid member could do from such a precarious situation.

Having assessed the dilemma and with club selected a beautiful swing was put on the stray pill .

Although the trajectory and speed were ideal, the ball unfortunately collided with one of the afore-mentioned spectators and returned to the same hazard. The duck was unharmed and Denis has the memory of hazard to fairway to duck to same hazard. In the top 5 best things I’ve seen at Royal Rossie.

Queen’s Birthday Results

On Monday 11th June, Collingwood and Melbourne went head to head on the big screen here at Rossdale Golf Club; and what a day it was!

With 50 adults, 60 kids and 150 playing out on the course enjoying the food and drinks, the BBQ sausages were voted a big hit, going by their saucy grins. The Trivia was well received and a slab of Wild Yak Pacific Ale was enjoyed by the winning team.

Collingwood Pies ended up winning the game, to the delight of many fans and most importantly we raised $270.00 for the MND Foundation (The Big Freeze at the G). Thank you to everyone who took part in this day, it was a great success.

Aspendale Tennis Trivia

Aspendale Tennis Club would like to invite our members to join them at their annual Trivia Night here on Friday 15th June. Featuring Funky Bunch Trivia, silent auction, raffle draw and door prizes it should be a fabulous night. Bistro meals available on the night. Drinks at bar prices. New Closing Time for Pro Shop Car Park

As of the 1st July 2018, the gates to the Pro Shop car park will be closed at 5;30pm daily. If you are parked there during the day you, will need to ensure you move your car to the front car park prior to 5:30pm. We thank you for your cooperation.

Shot Gun Starts

Shot gun starts have now commenced and will be running from the 9th June through to 21st July 2018. The first tee off is at 7:40am and the next one at 12:20pm.

With the reduced hours of daylight though the winter months this will give everyone a chance to get a game in. Then afterwards members can enjoy a better social atmosphere in our bar/bistro comparing results and talking footy.

Monthly Course Report

Firstly, thank you all for the warm welcome I have received on my return to Rossdale, very much appreciated.

On the course, with the cold weather arriving, we have turned our attention to the bunkers and the greens, with the greens having a dusting, fungicide and fertiliser application in the past fortnight.

In the shed , I would like to pass on a big thank you to Chris “Disco”, on his management of the course and staff over the past few weeks. I would also like to welcome Mark Chapple who has just signed on with us as a mature age apprentice.
