COVID-19 Updates

Following the tightening of restrictions on Monday and the potential for a second wave in Victoria, we would once again like to remind members of the requirements that have been set out by Golf Australia for us to remain open and protect the safety of our members and staff.

– If you are feeling unwell or experiencing flu like symptoms please do not attend the golf club

– Arriving no more than 10 minutes before your tee time

– Everyone should practice basic hygiene, we have placed hand sanitizer at multiple entries to the golf club so please use when entering the club or buildings, also washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds

– Although restrictions on the service of alcohol have been softened we ask that you do no congregate in groups of more than 10 and respect the time limits that have been put in place by the operational team after your round.

If we are com placement with these rules the consequences maybe quite severe.

Membership Rebate – Final Call

We would like to remind all members about ‘opting in’ to receive the member rebate. If you do not email the President at president@rossdalegolf.com.au, by the 30th of June 2020, expressing your desire to receive the membership rebate, you will NOT receive the rebate.

On Saturday the 6th of June an email was sent out from the President explaining the rebate guidelines. If you wish to receive this email again please call or email the club.

A quick recap:

· The offer applies to all members that are financial as at 31^st May 2020.

· The offer will be closed off by 30^th June 2020.

· Rebate is 10% of the fees that you paid, minus house account and affiliation and insurance fees, and will be put on your House account and cannot be taken as cash or offset against future fees. The Policy that relates to the use of the House account is on the website or available at the office.

Speed Of Play

Let’s continue the great work with DIVOTS AND PITCH MARKS!

This week we are focusing on slow play.

Slow play is quite simple. Your position in the field is directly behind the group in front, not directly in front of the group behind.

Things you can do to speed up play.

– Ready golf, who ever is ready plays there shot

– Mark your cards after you tee off

– Leave your bag where you will exit the green to walk to the next tee

Following these simple things you will find you can pick up a minute a hole which is just about 20 minutes a round.

Taylormade Fitting Day!

Book yourself in for the Taylormade fitting day on the 31st July, sessions are available from 9am – 2pm.

Sessions will be conducted at Taylormades state of the at facility in Clayton.

To book yourself in please visit the member portal and go to the 31st of July.

Winter Shield and Winter Cup!

The ladies board event the Winter shield entries are now open online through the member portal!

The Winter shield starts on the 8th July, so get in quick to avoid missing out.

The Winter Cup is shaping up to be a great event. It is now fully booked out, however if you would like to take part please place your name on the waiting list.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to say a BIG thanks to everyone who has supported the catering side of the business over the last month. Your smiles and gratitude go a long way!

It’s been great to play a part in your Saturday golf, with the decking area quickly becoming a busy and fun part of my week. The steak sandwiches have risen to hero status, with very few members left on a Saturday having not tried this delicious meal. If you are one of those members, pre order with Carol as soon as you can!

The Club house has seen another surge of members supporting us on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights with the slight easing of restrictions. I love seeing the regulars back and some new faces.

Now, my next goal is to have both sittings full on Thursday and Friday nights and a growth in Takeaway sales!

This is a call to all new members to come down and try our Bistro menu! You can’t beat the value of our slow braised shanks, curries, fish and cuts of steaks. We have 5:30 and 7:30 bookings still available for tonight and tomorrow so call now to book 9580 1008.

I hope to see you in the clubhouse or on the deck soon!

A legend’s story

Here is the first anecdote of a triptych that provides an insight into the most talented golfer who has ever picked up a club.

Nick Faldo tells the story. Playing in Belgium with the great man they were paired together on the Saturday. Seve was short-sided in the bunker on the 9th and came out with a sand wedge to gimme. When the ball landed it did not bounce; unheard of in those days. Faldo said “well that’s different”. The next day Seve ended up in the same bunker in the same position but the lie in the bunker was poor. He smashed a 3 iron into the face of the bunker and it promptly hopped off the face to gimme.

Faldo also tells the story of locker room antics when Seve said – ” I chip ball on to plastic chair, stay there”. No fancy clubs or balls. Of course he does that.

Jack Nicklaus said the best shot he has ever seen was played by Seve but it was only the second best. More to come on those two shots later.
