Hello   to   my   fellow   Rossdale   members,   

My   name   is   Ed   Delahenty,   I   work   for   Goodlife   Health   Clubs   as   the  Regional   Business   Manager   with   over   14   years   experience   in   the  Health   &   Fitness   industry.

The   Goodlife   team   &   I   would   love   to   extend   this   offer   to   all   of   the   staff,   members   &   families   at  Rossdale   Golf   Club.   It   is   completely   free,   with   no   obligations   required,   just   scroll   click   and   go.   This  portal   works   well   if   you   have   a   smart   TV   but   alternatively   your   mobile   or   laptop   device   will   also   work   a  treat.   The   video   workouts   range   from   Mind   &   Body,   Active   Adults   (seniors)   all   the   way   up   to   more  experienced   high   intensity   workouts.

The Rossdale Ladies

Welcome back to another installment of “Getting to know the Rossdale Ladies”. 

I’m sure you are all aware that the club had a short hiatus while all of us could get our heads around what it means for lockdown 2.00. The office and staff at headquarters are doing an amazing job to keep us up to date and helping us all to keep a cool head in these trying times.  

Well our 5th amazing long term member is Di Greagg.  Di joined the club 17/12/80 on the insistence of her sister Marion Dorrity.  As she was a working lady most of her association with the club was playing on Sundays, along with Trish Stillman, Jean McDonald and Wendy Hope-Waldron.  

On joining Rossdale she recalls that the Lady Captain was Lexie Beeforth and the Lady President was Selma Caffyn, both ladies being playing partners along with Pam Walker and Patti Watkins.  Di belongs to an elite group of ladies that have contributed both as Lady Captain and Lady President of the club over her years of service as a committed player and committee member. The other Ladies include Lorna Steel, Edith Herbert, Leone Chapman and Annette Foster(twice Lady Captain). 

On joining the club she started on a handicap of 36 (as high as you could go in those days) and slowly worked her way to her best of 19. When asked what stroke she considered her best she replied “None really, I just prayed for one of those days when you couldn’t do anything wrong and the scorecard reflected a great day in the park”.  Playing both Interclub and Pennant for Rossdale among some of Di’s fondest memories.  

In 1998 Di was the Vice Captain/team manager for the team that won section 9. The team  included Jeanette Barrett, Karin Schmidt,  Edith Vinton, Annette Foster, Caroline Smith, Barb Alexander and Liz Chapman. While reluctantly participating in the ladies famous concerts she recalls that being an audience member was her preference. Di still plays the odd game with the ladies but always manages to make the Wednesday ladies lunch, driving all the way from Rye, to catch up with good friends and to relish the Rossdale Ladies social life. 

If the Ladies committee could give out a trophy  for recognition of quiet achievers it would surely go to Di, for her 40 years of dedication, all done in a most understated way full of humility and good cheer, and the best interest of the club and the ladies of Rossdale at the fore front. Congratulations Di, we all look forward to lunching with you soon.
