Rossdale Youth Pennant travelled to Gardiners Run to compete in the Division 4 Final on Sunday.
The weather was fine, the course was good, and the boys were excited and eager to take on Green Acres, who we had defeated in the last round to get into the Semi Finals.
With the inclusion of Sam Cormack into the side from the last time we played them, it gave us further belief we could get the job done.
All boys got off to a good start, and through the turn we had our noses in front, however Lachie’s opponent got the better of him on the back nine and he lost to give Green Acres the first point. However, Tommy who was always in front came through just after with a good win to level the score. Max who was in control of his match for most of the day claimed a good win giving us the lead at 2/1. That left Toby who was having a tight tussle with his opponent, and Sam that was up in his match, but was leaking oil, the remaining two matches on course.
Sam was 1 up with 2 to play, stumped his 3rd shot on the par 5 8th Hole to 6 inches for a give me birdie, however thinking he had won the hole went over and picked up his opponents ball not realising the he still had a putt to halve the hole, after a rules official was called, Sam was given a one shot penalty and the hole was halved, they went to the last hole Sam 1 up and Toby going down the 19th hole to decide their match, so the final was still in the balance. Sam smashed his drive down the last and hit his approach shot to 10 feet his opponent hit his 2nd shot over the green. And as all this was happening word came back that Toby had won his match on 19.
THE FINAL WAS WON. Sam was given this putt for par to give the team a MEMERABLE 4/1 WIN.
A BIG THANK YOU to the supporters and also the CADDIES that travelled out to support the team and be a part of this terrific day.
Rossdale can be proud of the all the boys that represented the club though out the season.
