Rossdale’s 75th Birthday

Hi all Members.

If you are not aware, today 6th June is Rossdale’s 75th Birthday.

Yes, on this day in 1949, the club was officially launched. I’d like to say we have some pictures and anecdotes of the day, but unfortunately these have been lost to the mists of time.

Now, this is where you all come in. We know the board and house committee have planned for an event, later this year, and I expect you all to bring your dancing shoes for that but, in the meantime, we would like to ask you, members new and old, to share your stories.

We are planning to run little excerpts in this newsletter over the year and would love it if you could contact us with anecdotes that are important to you. Dates, people and events, be it a hole in one or the great associates’ protests, these are all part of the fabric of the club, and we intend to share them with everyone.

So, if you have a tale or event (near precise dates would be awesome but we know memory can play tricks) please email the club with ATTENTION-HISTORY and we’ll do our best to publish in some kind of chronological order.

We look forward to everyone’s input and hope to put a smile, tear or thought into everybody’s minds as the 75th year rolls through.

Cheers, The Historical Committee

Pace of Play

To help maintain a good pace of play, golfers should be mindful of the following:

  1. Ready Golf: Players should be ready to play when it’s their turn, rather than waiting for others to finish. This can include being prepared with the right club, lining up shots while others are playing, and moving promptly between shots.
  2. Keep Up with the Group Ahead: Golfers should aim to keep pace with the group ahead of them. If there is a gap forming between your group and the group ahead, consider picking up the pace.
  3. Limit Search Time: If a ball is lost, players should spend a maximum of 3 minutes of time searching for it before declaring it lost and proceeding under penalty.
  4. Awareness of Time: Players should be mindful of the time taken on each shot and try to avoid unnecessary delays, such as excessive practice swings or lengthy discussions overshot selection.
  5. Efficient Movement: Golfers should move efficiently between shots, including walking briskly or driving the cart responsibly.
  6. Keep Distractions to a Minimum: Minimize distractions during play, such as excessive talking or cell phone use.

If golfers collectively follow these guidelines, it can contribute to a more enjoyable and efficient pace of play for everyone on the course.

We have seen an improvement with the pace of play over the last few weeks. Pro Shop Staff will be monitoring the pace of play. please follow all direction given by the Pro Shop Staff.
