As the good weather approaches our teams and committees have been busy in the background preparing the course and syllabus to ensure a great golfing experience from now and into 2025. Our Match committee have been working hard to finalise the 2025 syllabus and the performance committee is well placed with both the Senior and Junior pennant teams commencing from tomorrow and next week.
With unprecedented interest in our Seniors pennant team unfortunately we were unable to provide every applicant with a position in the squad, but we do urge everyone to get down to watch the first round at Woodlands this Friday to help spur our boys on against The National. With a number of first year players it is surely one not to be missed.
I would like to also single out Kristoph who has done an outstanding job over the past 24 months with our junior program and with our ability to once again enter 2 sides into Junior pennant it is an outstanding effort and great reflection on the club. I wish both the Eagles and Birdies sides the best of luck in junior pennant this season.
The course team have done and excellent job in preparing the course for the growing season and with some new sculpting works around the tees and greens members should expect to see a slightly different looking course once it settles in. Work has also now finalized on our practice range and I hope that everyone enjoys the facilities but I urge all members to please look after the asset and use the sand provided to fill in you divots.
That does segway into a disappointing topic and the is course care and etiquette. While I understand that I may not always get it right I fail to understand how someone can walk into the middle of a bunker and take a full shot with using the rake, or take a divot on a fairway and not use sand. Course care will be a specific focus over the next few months, and I ask everyone to call out poor behavior and if you see a member of your playing group failing to do the right thing have a quiet word to them and lets try to all do better.
