Many members will remember the one-winged duck who used to live in and around the pond next to the 7th green.
The Tuesday and Thursday arvo boys called him Henry but I think our (not so little) friend had many other names amongst many other groups.
It has suggested by those in the know that Henry migrated from nearby Lochiel Avenue to his new home on the the 7th but was regularly seen back in his old stomping ground.
Henry was tame – especially to members who were carrying one vital item – any form of food.
One of the Tuesday / Thursday boys , Kenny Dunn was religious in his purchase of a bag of twisties before heading out on the course to sate Henry’s strong appetite.
Henry knew Dunny by sight and would commence a fast waddle up the fairway followed by his assorted flock of mates when he saw Dunny approach
Dunny would hand feed Henry the bag of twisties and without fail on consumption of the last one Henry would make straight for the pond and take on his body weight in water to compensate for the ridiculous amount of salt in the fare.
Alas Henry is no longer with us but we have fond memories of him.
